Navy Occupation Service Medal

After WWII, a lot of work needed to be done in rebuilding and rooting out fanatical insurgents.

Authorized by the Navy Department General Order in January 1948 for occupation service in the theater of operations from May 1945 to April 1952, post-WWII.

Clasps included “EUROPE” and “ASIA”.

The obverse shows Neptune riding a mythical sea animal with a head of a horse while holding a trident.
